Hi there! ~ Let me tell you a little bit about myself. My name is Heather. I live in the midwest. I am a wife. I am an adoptive mom. I am an autism mom. I am a mom of a gifted child. Most importantly, I am a mom who loves her two boys fiercely.
In this blog, I hope you will find a place to sit down with your favorite drink. Bonus
points if you are drinking diet coke. (It is my fav!) I hope you will find some helpful tools and encouragement to help you along the way in your journey. You and I know both know that life can be hard for us mamas and dads too!
Why Our 605 story? Well, 605 represents home to me. Home is family–both blood and chosen. I do love my home very much! For the last 14.5 years, my husband and I have called this place home together. (I have lived here all my life, but he is a transplant.) When we got married, life was an open book for us. We didn’t have a 5-year plan or retirement plans. Travel, of course, the world was ours to see. All of our plans were summed up with “someday” including adding children to our family.
Our open book took us on an incredible journey of two adoptions. Through those adoptions, we learned honest acceptance, openness for learning and listening, and trust that would benefit us in the coming years when autism joined our story.
All my best to you,
